Anna Celeste Photography

"My photography is very creative and very fun. I like to create a unique moment which has been captured on camera. I like my photographs to almost look like a frame of a film. A film still that has no beginning and no end."

- Anna Celeste

<<<<------------------------------------------this lady.

"my favorite location in which i have shot is the model village in Portsmouth.
Its an amazing miniature model village filled with fantastic dreamy and surreal features.

I found the location a long time before using it and I was desperate to use it but never had the perfect model or the perfect brief in order to use it, so when i finally used it, it was amazing. The day was gorgeous and i couldn't have asked for a better model to compliment it. "

"I always went for location shoots when i was at university because I wasn't overly confident with studio lighting but after having worked in a professional fashion photography studio for nearly 2 years now I would choose studio anytime. The possibilities of playing with different light is incredible. I like to focus on lighting rather than making sure everything matched in a location. "

"if I see something I love I will literally base my whole shoot around it. It could be a piece of fabric, or a dress or a ruffle on a top."

"my most inspirational people in fashion go from photographers
who have changed the face of fashion photography through history, to designers
 to models
 to make up designers."

"I have always carried a camera around with me since I was at school and always took thousands of meaningless photographs. "

"I spent a fortune on developing.
The people in London Camera Exchange knew me by name."

Pucker Up

Shu Uemura recently opened in Brighton. (YES).

The eyelashes are incredible. Sexy and incredible.
Sexy, incredible and showstopping.

...Just in case you didn't get the memo...

There is a Mac shop opposite. (No, not the computer shop).

This compliments my walk down Duke's Lane rather nicely since I have had a non stop love affair with their Pink Nouveau lipstick since I was 18.

So I have decided to take a delightful stroll down to Shu Uemura on Boxing Day with my Christmas monies (Woo) and pick some out to wear with pride on NYE. As confusing as my outfit choice is becoming, fear not for the face. I expect my eyes will be doing all the talking.

Although I enjoy indulging my girly side every so often with the typical 'Oooing' and 'Aahhing' over new shoes, bags and jewellery, I find makeup quite difficult to get so excited about. 'Oh look a new highlighting powder...' (Not me.) This is probably down to two reasons.

One. I have as much ability as a blind six year old when attempting to do a Benefit-esque face full of makeup.
Two. I'd much rather spend my money on said shoes, bags and jewellery.

However, an overenthusiastic Bobbi Brown makeup artist recently engaged in minor chit chat with me whilst I was purchasing items on my Christmas List. (because apparently you have to be present in order to know your under-eye concealer colour is "definately Sand")

She taught me three very valuable make up lessons that she seems rather slightly disturbed that I didn't know before. The shhhaaammee.

- Under no circumstances must you ever apply concealer before eyeliner. (Because if you do you smudge the three layers of 'de-puffing', 'correcting' and 'concealing' under eyes when you pull at your eye to smooth over the liner.) Aha. Got that?

- When applying perfume you should always use Vaseline (I was quizzical at the mention too...) on your wrists and behind your ears before you apply, because apparently it keeps your perfume fresh. I will be trying this tip with my new YSL Parisienne...

- Now this one is very common and even my Nonna knew it. (Bear in mind she's had the same lipstick since 1998). Put foundation on your lips before lipstick because the colour will stay. Easy.

So maybe there will be some hope that on NYE I will look presentable and pretty good....
Otherwise I shall look like a drag queen.

Ga Ga Oh La La

Rachael Barrett is a fashion designer

She Graduated from the Royal College of Art
...2009

Good old Gaga - known for causing stirs with her ecclectic taste in attire - used some of Barrett's designs for the video Bad Romance.

Wearable...? #

This is a vibrant and loud collection. Plenty of sharp silhouettes and what fashion people love to say....

"Thinking outside the box Miss Barrett"

"Inspired by the ethereal, haunting imagery found in the photographic work of Julia Margaret Cameron and Deborah Turbeville, the collection explores both the female form and the trapped space between body and dress: transparent silicone rubber forms garments that exaggerate the classic hourglass silhouette, while oversized dresses in chiffon, lace and sheer jersey cloak the body in a diaphanous film... The resulting layers of transparency expose the ‘negative space’ beneath the garments, which normally remains hidden"

All I want for Christmas

Nobody is entirely sure when Christmas became less about the birth of Jesus, being selfless and appreciating loved ones (although this all still exists, it remains in small quantities and mainly on Christmas Eve) and more about presents, 'wish-lists' and getting drunk on mulled wine.

However, it appears in the 21st Century the most important things about Christmas involve big department stores (Liberty's, Harrods and Selfridges remain my favourites) and their extremely festive spirit - and christmas window displays. They love cooing over what you have bought and must take some sort of pleasure by attacking you with perfumes on entering their rose-tinted, glossed over, 'isn't life a ball' esque world.

This is far from a complaint - and seeing as I took a rather festive trip to Oxford Street this morning, I've decided to compile a small wish list of gifts I would love Santa to place on the foot of my bed come December 25th. (NB: I say wish list because some - actually all - of the following items are so far out of my price range I'd have to sell a member of my family on the black market to attain any of said garments. BOO.)

My favourite website to peruse these desires is normally http://www.net-a-porter.com/ however I've had time to browse so here are my top items that I will crave for a least a month before I forget about the overpriced commodoties that will never grace my wardrobe and head to Urban Outfitters to buy a top that I'll see three girls trying on at the same time, one other girl buying and at least six girls on my Christmas Eve night out actually wearing. Here are my seven sins for December. Oh joy. Merry Christmas.

One.
Acne.
Leather: Rita 2

"Short biker jacket in beautifully finished lamb leather. Comes with a detachable fur collar." Enough Said.

Two.
Little Black Dress.
"Robert Rodriguez’s asymmetric studded dress is this season’s example of edgy glamour. Embrace its rock credentials with heeled ankle boots and a cropped leather jacket." Basically sex in a dress.

Three.
Miu Miu. Embellished wool crepe skirt. Fierce.

Four. Lanvin. Birthday Canvas Tote. The first canvas bag I have seen over £465...Hmm. Beautiful.

Five. Yves Saint Laurent. I wouldn't even care if this was my wedding ring. In fact, I would marry the man who bought this for me. In both colours.
WOW.

Six. Miu Miu. Perfection.

Seven.
3.1 Phillip Lim. Studden leather gloves. An investment. I'm in love.

This list could go on. These probably aren't even my favourite things on the list. I've racked up an imaginary bill over over £15,000. Where's my boyfriend with his black AMEX.

Fashion and it's Friends

Whilst being at university for 3 years a lot in my life changed. Most obviously my style. I took my first footsteps into Primark (er..what a lovely experience), I also began my first wave of 'charity shop shopping' with my friends and once spent a whole friday night trying to make a fuscia pink silk skirt. I'd rather oddly convinced myself it was a brilliantly artistic and innovative way to make clothes that I didn't see in the shops. And as I spent around £40 (money I will never see again) in John Lewis, I remember feeling full of hope and pride that I was going to construct a garment so beautiful I'd have a queue of friends wanting to be fitted for ones similar...

Ahem. Famous last words. Cue to me four hours later sitting in a pile of pink fabric, pins, zips and my own self pity. I still don't know to this day how I managed to ever get my head around believing this was a good idea. It was only on my fourth attempt when my friend asked me if I had ever made a skirt before that I realised I had as much hope of making a Vuitton-esque creation as he did of finding a girlfriend.

So this post is dedicated to my friends and our fashion throughout university. I was lucky enough to live with two incredibly stylish girls in my second year who lured me out of my comfort zone in order for me to truely experiement with fashion - how could I ever thank them. Well I've promised them the skirt episode will never happen again...However I have been tempted by old Vogue templates. No? Maybe I'll leave it to the experts.

A couple of my best friends feature in this post and although there have been times (Mr Wakeford especially) that we have raised eyebrows regarding their ourfit choices, all I can say is at least they had the guts to raise eyebrows in the first place. Who else could pull off a velvet jacket on New Years Eve and get nothing but compliments? (and alot of odd stroking). Although much of his style is based upon what he can get in a skip (don't ever ask him about his Levi's) and the odd charity shop buy for under a tenner, he has a brilliant sense of style and without a doubt the only person who could look at something on the hanger that everybody else would steer clear of for fear of being looked at in jest and actually pull it off. Congratulations Stu, you'll never get a girl, but at least you've got some style.

Another of my best mates, Miss Case has an eye for some rather interesting pieces. She too holds investment in velvet - this time in the form of a mustard coloured dress. She also once owned a pair of leather trousers (I know no other girl who could look as hot in them) and has so many corsages she could probably open her own shop. She's a bit of a clothes whore. She's a clothes hoarder. She is one of my only girlfriends who I have fun shopping with because we are completely honest with each other. There are no niceties when we shop, no "Yeah, it's very you" or "Oh yeah, you look so cute in it". We are more to the point with the "As if you are gonna buy that" and the "It's actually disgusting". It's fun because even when she tells me she thinks my clothes are hideous, it doesn't stop me from buying them it just makes me want them more. She is confident with her clothes and that is one of the things I love about her. And she's the most hilarious drunk you will ever meet. Fact.

THE END.
