Pucker Up

Shu Uemura recently opened in Brighton. (YES).

The eyelashes are incredible. Sexy and incredible.
Sexy, incredible and showstopping.

...Just in case you didn't get the memo...

There is a Mac shop opposite. (No, not the computer shop).

This compliments my walk down Duke's Lane rather nicely since I have had a non stop love affair with their Pink Nouveau lipstick since I was 18.

So I have decided to take a delightful stroll down to Shu Uemura on Boxing Day with my Christmas monies (Woo) and pick some out to wear with pride on NYE. As confusing as my outfit choice is becoming, fear not for the face. I expect my eyes will be doing all the talking.

Although I enjoy indulging my girly side every so often with the typical 'Oooing' and 'Aahhing' over new shoes, bags and jewellery, I find makeup quite difficult to get so excited about. 'Oh look a new highlighting powder...' (Not me.) This is probably down to two reasons.

One. I have as much ability as a blind six year old when attempting to do a Benefit-esque face full of makeup.
Two. I'd much rather spend my money on said shoes, bags and jewellery.

However, an overenthusiastic Bobbi Brown makeup artist recently engaged in minor chit chat with me whilst I was purchasing items on my Christmas List. (because apparently you have to be present in order to know your under-eye concealer colour is "definately Sand")

She taught me three very valuable make up lessons that she seems rather slightly disturbed that I didn't know before. The shhhaaammee.

- Under no circumstances must you ever apply concealer before eyeliner. (Because if you do you smudge the three layers of 'de-puffing', 'correcting' and 'concealing' under eyes when you pull at your eye to smooth over the liner.) Aha. Got that?

- When applying perfume you should always use Vaseline (I was quizzical at the mention too...) on your wrists and behind your ears before you apply, because apparently it keeps your perfume fresh. I will be trying this tip with my new YSL Parisienne...

- Now this one is very common and even my Nonna knew it. (Bear in mind she's had the same lipstick since 1998). Put foundation on your lips before lipstick because the colour will stay. Easy.

So maybe there will be some hope that on NYE I will look presentable and pretty good....
Otherwise I shall look like a drag queen.
X
