Jesus Fucking H. Christ

The fucking you get ain't worth the screwing you take
-and other life lessons from the Wanderers.

A few sundays ago, inbetween struggling with that still drunk / 'when will the hangover kick in' phase,  I aimlessly wandered  down the road opposite Mash Tun. I decided for some reason, to join the library.

Now this library in particular is no feat. It's two large floors with a modern-ish, boring-ish feel. Anyway, I always find it really difficult to pick books to read because I normally do judge a book by its cover.

Anyway I left with three books. Two are still on my bedroom floor waiting to be left there, racking up overdue days. The third book, a ficticious classic written by Richard Price is entitled 'THE WANDERERS'
I particularily like this book for two reasons:

a) it's set in 1960s New York City
b) when they talk, it's read like "Lissen, whada they doin' here? Whadya got? Whyncha look then?"
(Microsoft word would have a breakdown)

Anyway the book is graphic. It's about sex and violence and living in the projects in the 60s. Its humourous but also really touching. They made it into a film in 1979. But read the book first.

Off your face

GET OFF YOUR FACE..

I'm going to keep this short and sweet because I'm not really one to bad mouth fashion if it's not really my cup of tea. If you want to wear something that isn't so appealing to me then fair play, each to their own and all that jazz.

However, there is just one thing really bugging me at the moment in 'fashion'. I remember a couple of years ago 'wearing glasses' starting sporadically popping up on all the 'whats hot' (shudder) pages in magazines. Specsavers adverts became remotely interesting and bullying kids with glasses may or may not have decreased. People who wore glasses were all of a sudden not only accepted (hurrah) as normal, they were - hold on - actually considered cooler than those not donning a pair of YSL framed beauts.

This I can only imagine is the force behind the popular trend of 'pretending to wear glasses when really you don't need them'
- and TRUST ME, I wish I'd of known that would have been a predicted trend when I was 13 and forced to wear what can only be described as glasses I'd nicked off Dame Edna.

The 'I wear glasses because I need them' crew has inevitably struck fear into the painfully 'I won't be anything but cool' kids and GASP god forbid there may be a trend they JUST CANNOT FOLLOW.

It pains me to see (and yes it's bloody obvious) girls/guys wearing glasses when they don't need them. It reminds me of the way I feel when I see people wearing sunglasses indoors, or on days when there is no sun. WHAT IS THE POINT ?

Probably because you'll get smacked in the face with them the minute you walk into Urban Outfitters may be the reason a lot of people just can't resist purchasing a commodity that can only equate to them looking like twats. However, I will give them this; they have a bit of a backbone to be proud of their utter loss of dignity/shame when putting them on walking down the street and realising ........

your vision is clearer WITHOUT THEM.

Wassup with Wasson

Erin Wasson is bloody cool.  ( She's hot as well... )

Hence why she's a super cool, super hot, super successful model. Two reasons why I like Erin? Simple.

Firstly without a doubt, (documented in this here photo) she can pull off that really fierce two-tone hair thing that I am debating this summer. Like a mix between 'you need to get your roots done. NOW', and, 'Fuck it, I don't want to get my roots done.' This has been attempted before but I think before it gets to that sexy give-a-shit stage, it likes to stay in that 'I'm too [poor/lazy/] to do anything about it' stage.

ANYWAY. Erin is cool, we've established this. Alexander Wang agrees. The less stalker reason is infact:
.LOW LUV.
.LOW LUV.
.LOW LUV.

My train to what's new has been delayed since AW08 when Wang used them on the runway. But they're "timeless" so who gives a fuck. And she's only just launched Low Luv.

What.Wang.Wants (The body chains all over his runway. Understandably)
